Part 1

Here are a series of two demonstrations, in two parts, that show 3 bugs with the new power/cooling grid system.

1. Start a new ship design.
2. Place 2x small power generator on floor 1. Observe the Grid 1 supply value in TW, (150TW).

3. Connect the two power generators together. Observe the Grid 1 supply value in TW, (300TW).
4. Select one power generator and click on "Grid 2". Observe the Grid supply values, (Grid 1: 0TW, Grid 2: 150TW).
5. Draw a power line out from the generator on Grid 2. Observe the Grid supply values, (Grid 1: 0TW, Grid 2: 150TW).

6. Draw one or more power grid squares that are isolated. Observe the Grid supply values, (Grid 1: 0TW, Grid 2: 0TW).

7. Trigger a power grid update, (Click on the power generator assigned to grid 2). Observe the Grid supply values, (Grid 1: 0TW, Grid 2: 150TW).

This process demonstrates two bugs.
1. Power grid updating needs to occur more frequently, especially when more than one grid is present, (Grid 1 remained 0TW because no update was triggered).
2. Isolated power grid squares temporarily set the available power supply to 0.

Part 2

This process demonstrates the incorrect values shown when all of the suppliers on a grid are not interconnected with each other.

Continuing from Part 1:
8. Add two small cooling units.

9. Connect power to the two small cooling units. One from each power generator, (One on power grid 1 and one on power grid 2). By triggering power grid updates, you can observe the grid supply values. These values are correct (Grid 1: 140TW, Grid 2: 140TW).

10. Connect the two cooling units to the power generators. Both cooling units must be independent of each other and on cooling grid 1. Observe the cooling grid supply value for grid 1 (85TW). Even after triggering a grid update, the value remains 85TW. This is incorrect, the value should be 200TW - 30TW = 170TW.

11. Connect the two cooling units together with cooling grid squares. Observe the cooling grid supply value for grid 1 (170TW).

This process demonstrates that the grid supply values are only correct when all supply rooms are sharing a common grid. Any supply buildings that are not part of the common grid will cause incorrect values to be shown.

Something to consider is that, once all these bugs are fixed - each power grid will represent the total quantity of TW available to the whole ship, on that grid. This figure will be of limited use to any player that doesn't connect every power generator to a common grid that is also connected between decks. A work around is to use a different grid for each deck. But that makes connecting between floors impossible, since you can't switch power from one grid to another within the power connection room.

Perhaps a "Deck" value that calculates the total power available to that deck vs power use would be useful? That way, it doesn't matter how many grids, isolated supplier rooms or inter-deck connections are in place - the most important figure, the total available to that deck, will be visible to the player.

E.g.
