This room would be a smallish room, manned by one tech that would send techs out to damaged/overdue systems automatically based on the damaged rooms requirements (1 tech, 2 techs etc), this room would need the AI core functioning to supply the various sensors with information, failure of the AI core disables the room then you need to manually repair systems. This would add a bit more autonomy to the maintenance crew on larger ships, manual control would be needed for anything other than maintenance or repairs though, rooms that have over 0:30 till maintenance should be ignored, power/cooling have priority over crew cabins and cargo bays etc. What are you guy's ideas on this?

Sounds like it drastically alters the core gameplay by putting crew management on autopilot.

If it was there...maybe it should work for maintenance only, and/or require Cybernetic Organisms to use as worker-drones linked in to the comp. core.

That is a better idea, as it is now maintenance is a huge pain to keep track of and even harder when the patrol points fail to work correctly at times.
