I'm finding it rather difficult to get the medic to heal people by putting the medic on top of them. Maybe it's because people are moving around while idle? I think that it would be easier if the medic had either a "Heal" command (along with maintenance, defend etc), or simply to automatically begin healing any wounded individual that is in the same room.

Makes sense. In fact, a medic should heal people in the same room whenever idle, without requiring a heal command.

and of course, if the medic is not in sickbay when healing then s/he should not be able to fully heal the soldier/tech/pilot/other medic, otherwise what is the whole point of a sickbay?

Maximum health after injury is currently 98. Perhaps this is to do with keeping the crew member marked as wounded, for score keeping?

At the moment, it seems that the only use of the sickbay is to make it easier to heal crew. Since just entering the room activates automatic healing vs putting a medic directly on top of the injured crew member and watching to prevent them from idling off of each other.

then what about critical injuries? you know: things like bad burns (from putting out fires perchance), broken bones, comatose crewmen, etc. as well as things such as viral or alien infection. if these were implemented and weakened, or even prevented certain actions of, our crewmen I think it would allow for a reasonable use of the sickbay without needing to give the medic an out-of-sickbay debuff.

Shania has an interesting idea, as posted here: http://www.starshipcorporation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3795
Shania wrote:
Healing: all units slowly regenerate, if they have more than 80% hp, unit under this value is injured and need first aid (all unit can do it on another unit, take some time) to stabilize and not losing more hp. Under 30% hp, unit can’t make any action and loosing hp (1%/1sec), medic can stabilize it and move it to sickbay.

I personally like the thought and I think it would work nicely with the ideas brought up here.
