Tossing out an idea for some kind of cryo-stasis option for crew transport. Clearly not intended for all vessels, but possibly for colony ships or long haul passenger transports.

Allows the option of bringing additional needed crew out of stasis at the rapid expense of oxygen/water use/life support capacity...

Also allows the option of massive crew death from power failures to the stasis system.

It is something that has been batted around. I'm sure.

It could also effect the amount of water storage needed on board

hmm.. hypersleep is already part of game: you can choose the amount of crewmembers awake in the standard missions.

sounds like a new mission: lifesupport failure - repair the crewquarters and lifesupport in short time (based on crewcount and max mission time) for mission success
